The Gaia Collection comprises of special colours created with a combination of traditional colouring techniques. The oak top layer is lightly brushed to form a relief of the natural grain. Lye is then hand applied to the oak surface which reacts with the natural acids in the wood and bleaches the surface preventing the oak from discolouring. The result if a textured surface to which layers of colour oil are applied to create deep lustred boards with a distinctive grain.

This brushed and hardwax oiled oak floor was born from the idea of producing an alternative to solid wood parquet. Giving the same robust feel under foot as a solid floor but with a far more economical use of the precious hardwood top layer. The planks use a thick wear layer of European oak and are backed on an ultra stable hardwood multi ply tongue & grooved base. Realising that traditional solid flooring was wasteful and more damaging to the environment, Vanilla Wood Floors have pioneered the use of this type of flooring construction over the last decade.

This smooth sanded oak plank, simply sanded and sealed with natural oil, brings nature into an interior on an impressive scale. The 6 mm rustic oak top layer is backed onto a hardwood multi-ply, which gives this extra wide board an ultimate stability and installation versatility.
